Have You Spoken to the Mountain?

Have You Spoken to the Mountain?

Faith- reliance, loyalty or complete trust in God; a system of religious beliefs

I’m talking about faith because I’m working on my own. I recently learned that my faith is attached to my obedience (and apparently, I’m disobedient. Go figure.) and as I learn I’m sharing with y’all. Let’s grow together.

So yea. Faith. We need it. We’re nothing without it. If you don’t have faith, then you’re worrying all day and getting nothing accomplished. Faith fuels our destiny. We gotta operate in faith to walk in our purpose or passion or whatever it is that keeps you up at night or gets you up early in the morning. We need faith.

As believers, we hear about faith quite often. You heard it from me a few weeks ago. When you hear the word, several scriptures probably come to mind. When most people hear the word, it’s accompanied by a spirit of expectancy. We have faith in God because we are believing Him to do something for us. We’re expecting Him to move on our behalf and because of our faith in Him, we know whatever we ask will be done if it aligns with His word.

This makes absolute sense to every believer especially myself. That’s why I was able to explain it so well. But I think it’s one thing to actually say you have faith but it’s another thing to actually have faith. When I think of peace, I think of the importance of remaining calm despite calamity. This idea can be extended to faith as well. You remain in peace because your faith allows you to rest assure knowing that God will always take care of you.

But what about the moments when things seem hopeless? You’re like God “what’s up?” but you’re too filled with despair to hear from Him or see when things are actually working out on your behalf. When things seem impossible in the natural and you really want to believe a supernatural blessing is coming your way but the blessing just seems so far off, you just can’t even. Or when you get laid off from your job and rent happens to be due in a few weeks and even though you have a job lined up, it looks like you won’t have enough for rent because the pay schedule is different and you just do not know how you are going to come up with those last few dollars. But God.

I must refer you to Matthew 17-20. Jesus said, “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” All you need is a little faith. Faith that won’t let you accept anything other than the fact that God is moving on your behalf.

Jesus said move a mountain. And He said YOU can tell the mountain to move! And that’s because there’s power in YOUR tongue! When is the last time you asked God to move a mountain? Do you have faith that God can really move a mountain? What mountain are you denying God the pleasure of moving because you haven’t asked? Have you spoken to the mountain about your God? Girl.

Everything truly works out for the benefit of those that love the Lord. He takes care of His own. We have absolutely nothing to worry about because God is in control. He will lighten our load and make a way out of no way if we just relax and let God be God.

Worry and faith are complete opposites and cannot coexist. Like the saying goes: “If you prayed, don’t worry. If you’re going to worry, don’t bother praying.” Just remind yourself, it’s already done. Don’t try to put God on a timetable or make things happen on your own. God knows best and He will work things out so that He will get his glory and you will reap the benefits.

Did you pray or worry today?

Our only job is to work, to operate in our gift. Faith without works is dead. If you aren’t doing anything, then do you really have faith? What can God bless if there’s no work? He has nothing to bless yet we’re waiting expecting something. Girl. That was more me than it was for y’all.

I’m discussing this again because I sometimes (read: always) need reminders so I’m assuming you do too. Sometimes, I try to take control and figure things out when God is telling me to sit still but I can’t hear because Cardi B is playing way too loud. (You know I had to!) Or when lessons come back around and I try to apply the same logic as before, once again not allowing God to be God and failing that test once again. So here I am reminding you to operate in faith and trust the One who created you, even when you can’t track Him.

As always, take what you need and leave the rest.
